Highest Number of Students Appeared in JEE Main 2024 in the History of NTA

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted the JEE-Main 2024 examination in two sessions: January and April. The January session took place from January 24 to February 1, while the April session was held from April 4 to April 9. The All India Rank of students was determined based on the highest NTA score across both sessions.

This year marked a significant milestone, with a total of 14,15,110 students appearing for JEE-Main 2024 across both sessions. In comparison, last year, 11,12,000 students participated, reflecting an increase of nearly 3,00,000 students. This record-breaking participation is the highest ever recorded by the NTA in the history of JEE-Main.

Percentile Eligibility for Taking JEE Advanced 2024

Out of the participants, 2,50,000 students were selected based on their JEE-Main 2024 scores to qualify for the JEE Advanced examination. The breakdown of qualified candidates is as follows:

  • 1,01,324 from the General category
  • 25,029 from EWS
  • 67,570 from OBC
  • 37,581 from SC
  • 18,780 from ST

The percentile cutoff for eligibility was:

  • General: 93.2362181
  • EWS: 81.3266412
  • OBC: 79.6757881
  • SC: 60.0923182
  • ST: 46.6975840

56 Students Got 100 Percentile

The Paper 1 (B.E-B.Tech) examination was conducted over 20 shifts in both sessions. In the January session, 23 students scored 100 percentile across 10 shifts, while in the April session, 33 students achieved the same, resulting in a total of 56 students scoring a perfect 100 percentile.

79 Students Are State Wise Topper

The JEE-Main 2024 results included a state-wise topper list comprising 79 students. Notably, the distribution of state-wise toppers included:

  • 1 from Andaman and Nicobar
  • 7 from Andhra Pradesh
  • 1 each from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Chhattisgarh, Dadar Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Goa, Kerala, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu, Jharkhand, Odisha, Puducherry, Sikkim, Tripura, West Bengal
  • 6 from Delhi
  • 2 each from Gujarat, Haryana, Punjab
  • 3 from Karnataka
  • 7 from Maharashtra
  • 5 from Rajasthan
  • 19 from Telangana

Criteria for Resolving Ties in NTA Scores to Determine AIR

This year introduced nine criteria for resolving ties in NTA scores. In case of a tie, the NTA score of Mathematics will be prioritized, followed by Physics, and then Chemistry. The ratio of correct to incorrect answers will also be assessed. In case of further ties, the elder student will be favored for the AIR, followed by the application number.
